SUPERSEED plants new seeds in the community with superseded goods.

Biography

The SUPERSEED Trust is a registered charity in Singapore.

SUPERSEED plants new seeds in the community with superseded goods. We fill a critical gap by delivering in-kind donations from corporate and public sector donors to communities in need.

1. SUPERSEED has delivered new fire extinguishers to Centres for the Disabled and old age homes, projection screens and overhead projectors to the Singapore Association for the Deaf, new t-shirts to children's homes and more.

2. As of August 2006, our biggest projects to date have been in the refurbishment and
distribution of computers. SUPERSEED has delivered:

a. nearly 170 computers to students from low-income families in Singapore
b. over 55 computers to schools in The Philippines (complete with
new computer speakers and microphones)
c. 15 computers to a project in India
d. several computers to an orphanage in Surabaya

If each computer set is valued at S$500 -- a conservative estimate - then in June/July 2006, SUPERSEED delivered computers worth more than S$123,000 to deserving individuals and projects.

(Note: some of these items are still en route.)

3. We expect to deliver another 25-50 computers to qualified Singapore students in August.

4. SUPERSEED's partners include: Changi Prison, Darul Ihsan Orphanage, CommGate (an open source company), FedEx, the US Navy, Khattar Wong, Morrison & Foerster and Citibank. Some of our largest donations have come from the Ministry of Manpower and Singapore Polytechnic. A good article discussing our partnerships can be found here: CSR Asia Weekly

5. A team of girls competing in the 2006 Citibank-YMCA Youth for Causes is supporting SUPERSEED. They received S$1600 in seed funding from Citibank. This money is administered by SUPERSEED but must be
used exclusively by the girls' team. This seed money is the first cash donation received by SUPERSEED. All other donations have been in services or in-kind.

6. SUPERSEED's requirements: warehouse space, additional partners for transport, funding (US$500k over 2 years).
